Volunteer at the Library!

Are you a lover of the library? Would you like to get more involved in your community? Take a look at our volunteer opportunities! We’re looking for volunteers to help with many aspects of the library, from fundraising and events to tech assistance and storytime reading! Friends of the Library

Do you love the library? Would you like to help the library thrive? The Friends of the Library is a group of volunteers who support the library by fundraising and sponsoring programs. Friends of the Library participate in regular volunteer activities (stocking the book sale, shelf reading, storytime reading, etc.), organize fundraising efforts, assist with programming and generally promote the library throughout the community.

Programs & Events

Help run programs and events at the library! We need volunteers to help setup and breakdown events, handle check-ins, and keep events running smoothly. We’re also seeking volunteers to run new programs! A great opportunity for solo or group volunteering!

Craft & Activity Prep And Assistance

Help prep crafts and activities for children! We need volunteers to help organize projects, cut materials, assemble grab-and-go kits, etc. We also need volunteers to help run crafts and activities with kids! A great opportunity for solo or group volunteering!

Shelf Reading

Help keep the library organized and functional by identifying and re-shelving misplaced books. A great opportunity for solo or group volunteering!

Book Sale

Help maintain our basement book sale by sorting book donations and stocking shelves. A great opportunity for solo or group volunteering!

Tech Assistance

Are you good with both computers and people? We’re seeking volunteers to work one-on-one with patrons to help them solve computer problems and improve their skills. Volunteers may either schedule appointments with patrons or offer times at which they are available to provide assistance. A great opportunity for solo volunteering!

Storytime Reading

Choose books, read to children, and plan simple activities! Our storytime volunteers read each week for an hour on Friday mornings from 10:30 to 11:30. Pick the date(s) that work best for you! A great opportunity for solo volunteering!

Seed Library

Help maintain the Seed Library by organizing, updating, and labelling our seed collection. Remove out-of-date seeds, add new seeds, and identify gaps in the collection; label seeds according to difficulty; ensure seeds are properly organized and easy to find. A basic working knowledge of plants and gardening and/or research skills are essential for this task!

Some volunteer positions require that the volunteer have Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance forms. Form number CY-113 is required for volunteers working directly with children. PA State Police Criminal Record Check may also be required. Volunteers are responsible for any fees. If applicant is under 18, clearances are not required.
